As a small business consultant I encounter people everyday that are ready to get out of the “Rat-Race”. They are burned out. Over worked and underpaid. It’s simply really; People are tired of getting up, going to work, paying bills, and going to bed, just to do it all over again. 

Time and time again my clients tell me they want more. But what equates more? 

Some people define more as “making a life instead of making a living” others are saying “More time not more money” for a happier and healthier life. 

In 2018 a Gallup US Daily Poll reported that 80% of working Americans feel “time poor” - stressed from having too many things to do and not enough time to do them.  And contrary to popular opinion, the pandemic did not slow down entrepreneurs in America.  A recent survey from SCORE looked at The Impact of COVID-19 on Startups and found although 43.9% of startups have a “wait and see” attitude about starting or continuing their business, 18.4% scaled up their plans and only 2.6% abandoned their business. 

A recent article by oberlo.com shows the number of business applications has been on a steady rise since the start of the previous decade. This is based on a survey conducted by US Business Formation Statistics (BFS). In 2010, the number of new business applications came in at 2.50 million compared to 4.35 million applications  submitted in 2020. That’s a whopping 74 percent more. It is also a 24.19 percent increase from 2019 and the biggest increase of the past decade by a mile.
